Flannel Twister Quilt Finished

My parents have been visiting for two weeks and my mom cracked up when she got to see for herself how Jackson thinks every quilt I lay out is for him! She snapped this picture as I was cutting the batting off my finished flannel twister quilt

The Front

Here it is all finished. Cousin Amber had to get in the picture and we really love the scrappy binding! This quilt is soooo soft and warm!!

The Back

I used all my left over flannel and created strips for the back. I really like how it came out.
This quilt will see many more adventures than me, as my dad will use it in their motorhome during their summer travels.

The Quilting

I quilted it using a dog pantograph:

and loved that it had bones
and a doghouse too!

Here's where it will "live" on my parents' motorhome bed on the Underground Railroad Quilt I had made them for their 50th Anniversary earlier:

And here's where it will be used by my dad in their motorhome while he spends afternoons watching golf and baseball all cozy and warm.
The perfect quilty hug don't ya think!
With Smiles!
Val:)

  5. Love the quilting on the flannel quilt. Adorable. My black lab Stan thinks all quilts are for him and will help when I'm pinning one up by lying right in the middle if it xx

  6. I love the quilting design you have used.
What size squares did you cut the blocks before you joined and recut them to do the twist. They look quite big.

  10. Nicely done Val! Jackson didn't look like he wanted to give that quilt up though. Looks like he was claiming it for himself, lol!! Your dad looks happy with the quilt...although it's too hot now for flannel!!

  11. This quilt looks so cozy, Val, and I'm sure your dad will think of it as a warm hug from you each time he uses it! And I have to say that I smiled as soon as I saw the thumbnail photo of your dog laying on it. You know, I have fussed at my dog for walking across/trying to lay on my quilts while basting them (he's a 70 lb. Boxer), and so now he lays right on the edge. I don't know what it is about quilts on the floor, but apparently they are irresistibly inviting!

Thank you so much for linking up to Needle and Thread Thursday!

  17. Your quilt is so nice. Your quilting just the thing. Sure enjoy reading your posts and the Tuesday Archives, too.
I went back and looked at my first post and see that I didn't know how to post photos, so there are none. It was short (maybe a good thing). I also went to a few of the first posts and found one where the photo was not showing, so I corrected that with a bit of Photoshop Elements' help.
