Before
After
THANK YOU for all your comments on my previous post. The wood of the cabinet was not in very good condition, so my dad decided to sand it down and restored it to "fit" into our primitive decor using a black satin spray paint. I love it so much that I decided to set it up next to a window in our diningroom. I plan to follow up on all your references and once I get the machine up & going I think this will be a perfect spot to start sewing my eye spy quilt.
Meanwhile, the rest of my weekend will be spent enjoying a household of family. Umm...no body told me being a grandma meant rearranging all my lower kitchen cabinets! LOL!
Happy Weekend!
With smiles,
Val:)
your sewing cabinet looks terrific! Love what your Dad did, and I don't usually like painted wood but sometimes I know a better option.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the grandkids! hugs from the Ozaks
Your cabinet looks wonderful - oh, and the sewing one, too. (It's those expensive toys that kids love at this age. He just needs a wooden spoon to strike up the band.)

Love the cabinet painted black. It looks very much at home in that room!
ReplyDeleteThat looks so stunning in the black and a perfect spot in your home for it.
ReplyDeleteThe cabinet is beautiful. I'd be afraid to use straight pins near it.
ReplyDeleteWow, your cabinet looks amazing now and what a great machine to sew on. Loving the pic in the cupboard, that's cuter than a pile of pans any day - Chris :D
ReplyDeleteAww, what a cutie! Awesome refurbish too:) That looks so perfect and what a cool looking machine!

You got that repaired quickly! Congratulations to your Dad; I wish the men in my family were so handy! Is that a screwdriver your grandson's holding?! Next generation handyman fixing Grandma's kitchen cabinet hinges!
ReplyDeleteThe cabinet looks great now.
ReplyDeleteLOL!!!!!!!!!!!! My daughter used to climb in the bottom drawer that held the pots and pan lids when she was a toddler and banged on the lids with a wooden spoon. That brought back memories seeing your grandbaby in the drawer, lol!!!
Is your dad for hire? I have a treadle machine that needs some tender loving care on the cabinet! Ha! Enjoy this wonderful Father's day with family. Oh by the way, the quilt was a HUGE success. I wished you could have seen what I did for the binding that just set it off perfectly. Maybe picture in the future. Miss you dear friend. Victoria
ReplyDeleteVery nice - the black is a good choice! Enjoy that grand baby!! Whoop whoop!
ReplyDeleteWow That was fast! It looks spectacular!! (Almost as cute as your grandson!!)
ReplyDeleteThat looks terrific Val! I have a cabinet I bought on the weekend that needs refinishing so this is just the inspiration I needed to get me thinking about colors! Mine goes with a tan Singer 403, good to know black is an option :)
ReplyDeletethat looks professional! The black is a hundred percent improved! LeeAnna
ReplyDeleteThe table looks good. It suits the surrounding decor. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteAnd what a cutie in the cupboard :)
I really like the new look. I just might decide to refinish the table with my mom's old Singer too.
