LAYER CAKE QUILTS

If ya ask me, the only thing a little, itty bit better than a quilty layer cake we can eat.

...is one we can make into a quilt! Especially because I have this Chistmas Layer Cake just waiting to be made into a cozy winter quilt for around the fire:

  1. I have never used a layer cake before Val. I prefer to choose all my own fabrics, so I am not so attracted to those packets of fabrics that are chosen for you. I'm sure it's nice to have the pieces cut already though, :0)

    1. I found myself collecting a few when I first starting quilting. Made learning easier. Now I just appreciate having something quick and easy to play with sometimes. :)

  2. I love using pre-cut fabrics. They're so versatile. Thanks for this link-up. I can share more when you do charm squares. He he! :)

  4. I've only made one layer cake quilt and it wasn't the most positive experience. The layer cake didn't work well in the pattern.

  7. I've never bought layer cakes because you really can't wash the fabric before using them and I *have* to pre-wash fabrics. Not only am I concerned about fabrics running and differences in shrinkage, but I don't like the feel of fabric until it's been washed! I've been cutting a strip off every fabric I buy (after it's washed and ironed) and at some point I'll use those in a jelly-roll kind of quilt. I guess you could say I make my own jelly rolls! ;)

  8. Val, Thanks so much for having this link up post. After reading about it I looked through my blog for my layer cake quilt and realized I had never shared it there so I rectified and just did an entry yesterday and actually took photos too. I didn't have any pics of that quilt and it's huge.
This layer cake fabrics looks fantastic and I just love the whimsy of Aneeley Hoey designs. Thanks for the chance and Merry Christmas.
