Huh? OMG!! This quilt has been sitting on the couch in my studio for the past 2 1/2 years!! I never realized that the binding wasn't sewn down until I heard that question from my husband.
Seriously, the binding was on...just not sewn down. How does that happen? Anyhoooo....I packed it up and it provided the perfect hand sewing this past two weeks while I was at our daughter's and I had a homemade quilt to sleep under every night. Doesn't get better than that does it. And now to celebrate this long overdue finish, I pulled some dotty fabric remnants from my stash and paired them with this Mary E. magnetic notepad as a Happy Mail Give-away for one of you.

The quilt is beautiful, but I had to laugh about forgetting to finish the binding. I'd NEVER do that! LOL I'm looking forward to your cookie recipe. I love Thin Mints!

Mine isn't an actual cookie but whenever I've done cookie exchanges, mine are the pretzel topped with a rolo, baked just long enough to soften the rolo and then slap a pecan half on top. SO GOOD!! Love the now completely finished quilt. Keep thinking I'll make one of those.

I can relate to that, I pulled a quilt out of the cabinet that has the binding clips still on it. Oops. I haven't met a cookie I don't like! I can't wait for some new recipes.

ReplyDeleteWhen I saw the word giveaway and that quilt all rolled up in the picture I couldn't get to the comments fast enough to tell you my favorite Christmas cooky. That quilt is soooo cute! Even if it is a few years old. Then I realized you weren't really giving away a quilt. Silly me. :D My favorite Christmas cookies are traditional sugar cookies with frosting. YUM! YUM!
ReplyDeleteI love sugar cookie cutouts, but I have no luck making them, so my favorite that I can actually make are snickerdoodles. I love sewing down binding so I don't think I would ever have a quilt around for 2 1/2 years just for finishing the binding. There are lots of UFO's hanging around for other reasons, though.

ReplyDeleteTruly hilarious story! Husbands are observant sometimes, I guess! My favorite cookies are the spritz cookies my mom makes. She makes them into strips we call "roads" and sometimes we put sprinkles on them before baking, but I love it when chocolate is spread on the bottom of one cookie and a top is added to it. Yummy! So funny about the quilt binding, but it worked out well in the end! My favorite Christmas cookie has to be candied cherry slices, someday mine will be as good as Mom's.
ReplyDeleteMy MIL's crescent nut cookies. (She cooks two good things, that and a yummy boiled custard. LOL.) Other than that, and the only one I have a recipe for are snickerdoodles. Just fun to say, and fun to make with littles!

ReplyDeleteMy favorite Christmas cookie is plain old sugar cookies with the kind of icing and decorations that the kids put on! Even better if the cookie is tree shaped :)
Rolled and cut out sugar cookies with a sprinkle of cinnamon instead of sugar or frosting. Also gingerbread people with extra ginger; chocolate shortbread; and snowballs, aka Mexican wedding cookies. Wish I had some right now!
ReplyDeleteAt Christmas there are so many fabulous cookies and treats. I can never resist the trays of various cookies. But, it's just not Christmas without a haystack (rice crispies over a caramel dipped marshmallow) and at least one decorated sugar cookie.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite cookie any time of year is oatmeal raisin cookies. At Christmas we add a bit of peppermint flavoring, cut them tree shapes, and put red hots as ornaments.

ReplyDeleteWhen it's not Christmas season, my favorite cookie is chocolate chip. But during Christmas I like family favorites: sand tarts (also known as Russian tea cookies, at least in my family) are among my favorites, as are date bars that my grandmother always made, good old sugar cookies, and molasses cookies. Mmmmm!

Needless to say, most of the purchases were mine :( And I am blahhed out by them now. I am sure a homemade version such as yours would be a welcome treat over them. hehehe. Have a blessed day. I like Oreo Cookie Balls...kids (they're grown) call them BTS balls...Oreos, cream cheese, chocolate bark: crush cookies, mix with 8oz cr. cheese, roll, cool, dip...so yummy!
