Baby NAME Quilt

Inspired by Lori Holt's new Spelling Bee book,  I sewed this little quilt together for our new little grand guy using two sets of charm packs to coordinate with his big brother's third birthday quilt. It will be perfect for his crib measuring 38"x50". The letters are the six inch uppercase letters (Boy, they were quick and easy to make too!)  I think it will give them all something to "roar" about don't you.
I bought a brown minky fabric for the backing and am thinking of a royal blue binding
to match the name row. What do you think??

I specialize in edge to edge pantographs with over 100 designs to choose from.

  3. Very cute! I have a grandson due within a month and have thinking I should make this pattern too, but they haven't chosen a name yet. I have a fear they will pick a name that's too long to fit!

  4. Hi Val, I have been planning to make some quilts along these same lines but I hadn't thought about adding the name. Great idea! I also wanted to know what is your favorite place to buy minky? Do you buy it locally or online? I bought some online but it's much thicker and furryer than I wanted. I want the smooth velvet-like minky.

  5. Well that is simply adorable. I think I will have to get that book...it would be fun to use alphabet blocks in a quilt. Think of the possibilities!

  8. Super cute quilt, Val! Yes, I think the blue for binding will be just right. It will really frame all those bright colors, better than the green in the letters would. I'm off to check out Lori Holt's book now!

  11. Cute! I love how the letters in the name look. I think blue binding will be lovely, as would the green of the letters so you have 2 good options. Great quilt, and you are ahead of the game if Jack hasn't arrived yet!

  12. I think that he's a lucky baby! :) It will be loved. Blue binding would be great. Or maybe even the lime green to match his name if you have enough of that.
Babies love bright colors...he'll be happy no matter what! :)
