Of course I was not without the company of Jackson as I played around taking pictures of my Classroom Animal Quilt flimsy. In-between throws of the tennis ball, the wind and efforts made trying to beat the incoming rain, I finally got it hung.
He paused long enough in his game of ball to be included in the picture.
It measures 50 inches square and will be the perfect classroom cuddle quilt. My goal is to get this quilted and binding on, for another Friday finish next week. I can't wait for the kids to see it! I'm going to have to set a timer to ensure they all get their "fair" amount of time using it during our May Marathon of Reading.
With smiles,
Val:)
Hi VAl!
ReplyDeleteGreat to see students art work being used for all to see, share and use! A classroom job well done! You and your students must be so proud! Also a quilty hug!
Take care,
Joanne
Cute quilt - What a great idea. Jackson looks like a cutie too!
ReplyDeleteLovely idea, love all the panels! They will love it to bits!
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet idea...love it!
ReplyDeleteThis is too cool! Wonderful project
ReplyDeleteVal I love the bright happy colors of each block and the aqua sashing fabric too. The kiddos made some darling blocks. It would be a great idea to take your photograph of this quilt and print some postcards of it to give to each child so they can proudly show their families and point out their quilt block, plus have a nice little memory of it, since they cannot each own the quilt.
ReplyDeleteGOOD IDEA!!! I AM GOING TO DO THIS!!! Thank you! I wouldn't have thought of it....and if I did, it would have been too late! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!! The kids will love this.
DeleteSuch a fun quilt. Can you put me on the list to get some cuddle time with it during reading time? I love their artwork!
ReplyDeleteThat turned out just too freaking cute. I'm sure they will love it.
ReplyDeleteThe blue and black are just the right borders! Love the whole. What's the quilting plan?
ReplyDeleteHugs
Quilting plans: thinking of patterns in the borders...like wishbones and swirls. Then accents of the student blocks...like highlighting with green grass and accents of the animals, maybe quilting each of their names in the indiv. block. When I'm quilting freestyle like this my ideas usually change as I start quilting! LOL!! I am looking forward to having fun with the quilting though...:)
DeleteSo great! Isn't children's artwork just the best? This would actually make a great fabric line...
ReplyDeleteThe quilt is so cute. They kids' drawings are wonderful and your getting it sewn so quickly is great. Your class will be so proud. I remember making quilts in my kindergarten class and how proud they were with the final piece.
ReplyDeleteI love the blue and the black to go with these blocks. It is such a darling quilt. How many classroom quilts do you have now?
ReplyDeleteOh it looks wonderful! The kids are just going to love it. You have a nice small class with only 16 . Marathon reading, nothing I like better than children's literature! Please post some of your favorites!
ReplyDeleteYou could also take a picture of each child with the quilt or a class picture and turn it into a magnet. A fun end of the year teacher gift.
Jane the magnet is such a great idea too! That way they'd use it!!
DeleteOh its darling! I love it!
ReplyDeleteReally cute! I've got another class art quilt in process too and this one should be just as fun as last years was to do.
ReplyDeleteSo very Fun!!
ReplyDeletePretty quilt and cute dog! Happy Mother's Day!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure the kids will love it
ReplyDeleteIt looks excellent. Great job kids, and the blue border is perfect.
