I made this quilt last May (2013/before I started blogging) and wanted to get it documented here on my blog. I call it Spring Pinwheels. This is my very favorite fat quarter pattern. This lap size, takes 12 fat quarters and can literally be made in a weekend! I quilted it with a butterfly pantograph .
And I found the perfect butterfly print for the back. (It's kinda hard to see the print.)
I made it for my very favorite Aunt Carlene as an I Love You/Thank You gift. She came all the way to Oregon from Michigan for our oldest daughter's wedding.
We were all so happy to have her here!

Nothing like sending one of your favorite people home with a quilty hug!!
With smiles,
Val:)

I think pinwheels just 'spell' friendship.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you posted about this quilt. It gives me an idea for one of my sibling quilts. Do you know how big it is, or where you got the pattern? And I seriously love that picture of the quilty hug.
ReplyDeleteThe quilt measures 53"x75" and it the perfect lap size quilt. I got the pattern at a retreat. It's not a published pattern, but created by one of the ladies at the retreat.
DeleteSuper cute and cheery I love a pinwheel. What great way to say I love you to a special person.
ReplyDeleteLove this quilt, Val!
ReplyDeleteI just love pinwheels and this is a great quilt! The smile on your aunt's face says it all :) Definitely nothing better than going home with a quilty hug!
ReplyDeletePinwheel quilts are fun no matter what the fabric. Yours is a beauty.
ReplyDeleteI love it! I love what you said, sending someone you love home with a quilty hug! I just love the picture of you girls!
ReplyDeleteHi Val,
ReplyDeleteLooks great! Blogging is a great way to make new friends! And share creative accomplishments! A quilty hug! Have to see if I can use that idea in the future!
Thanks for sharing Spring Pinwheels!
Have a great weekend!
What a fun quilt! Pinwheels are just happy!! Stopping by from the FWFS link-up-- I linked a pinwheel quilt too this week! Great minds think alike :-)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt and I LOVE the picture of the three of you, that's a keeper!!

I'm sure your aunt loved it! I love putting fat quarters together - so much easier to see if they match rather than pulling bolts off the shelves. Your classroom quilt turned out nice, too!
ReplyDeleteAw, what a lucky aunt to get such a beautiful quilt! Great job, Val!
ReplyDeleteWhat a very special gift. I love the quilt.
ReplyDeleteLove that quilt. Looks like one you could make many times and still enjoy makung and seeing how different each one is. Love it!
ReplyDeleteThis is a very sweet quilt!
ReplyDeletePinwheels are my absolute favorite! Love how it turned out, and I am sure your aunt will treasure it! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for linking up to Fabric Frenzy Friday!

Very pretty. What a nice thing to do. 'Just because I love you' gifts are the best :)
ReplyDeleteThis one is cool and calm while the first one you made is bright and bold. It's always fun to see how different fabrics change the tone of a pattern.
ReplyDeleteOooh - another gorgeous pinwheel quilt! Love the photo of the three of you wrapped in it!
ReplyDeleteI love that pattern!!
