My 2017 Quilty Goals!

Happy New Year Blog friends!
Here's to many happy stitches and completed projects in 2017!

I've spent a good portion of my day in my sewing studio contemplating what I'd like to accomplish in the year ahead. As I went through my stash it became obvious that UFO's did not emerge to be a problem (YEAH!) but I did find enough projects to join OMG for the year! See:
I'm looking forward to rejuvenating my Wonky RSC Flowers and second Saturday Sampler adventures with my quilty friend. My heart feels JOYFUL (little sampler quilt coming soon) and thus I've chosen JOY to be my word for the year. I'm looking forward to dedicating each third Thursday post to celebrating and sharing JOYFUL "stuff". (Who knows what I'll come up with but it will be fun)
My goals are posted right where I can see them  every single day which is going to be important as  my sewing routine will be going through a wonderful, but kinda major overhaul. After three years of NOT having weekends together, hubby and I are back on the same Monday through Friday work schedule! We're both really looking forward to this change as it will allow us to take mini weekend adventures together whenever we want and we won't have to take time off from work to do so. Thus, having an intentional plan for the year will keep me focused and productive, as I'm going to have to learn to fit smaller but more frequent times in to sew. But don't worry, he's already searching for his own recliner for the studio with plans to relax and watch TV as I sew. Of course I told him, we can rearrange the furniture however he needs. (Well kinda...but don't tell him!) LOL!
Wow! I already feel motivated to have things planned....and well, since it continues to snow...

...I think I'll get started!
Welcome to 2017.

  1. I've seem a few bloggers who use the white board - I just tape things and post-it note stuck everywhere. I think I need a white board. You have a very inviting and comfortable work area.

  4. Love the new pic of Jackson on your header, cutie pie that he is! Those are a lot of goals! Just be sure to allow for some unexpected fun stuff you might encounter along the way. DH and I thought we'd do some weekend getaways this year, and only did one all year long.

  5. I like your white board with the goals. How fun to have weekends to spend with hubby, I am spoiled I get to spend lots of time with mine, which kills my productivity.

  6. This year I have very few quilty goals but I guess I need to write them down anyway just to be accountable. You've inspired me as usual 😁 currently I'm working on organizing/tackling my scraps to maximize space in my studio so I can enjoy the area better this year.

  8. good to see you have set goals. Good too that you now have weekends to spend together though with all that snow you will not be venturing far. No goals come to mind for me at the moment I am getting very lazy these days.

  10. How cool that you'll have more time with Your Guy. Good luck with the implementation phase, that's where I always have problems. One thing that has worked for me is looking for just 15 minutes each day to so something in the sewing room. It's amazing how much you can get done if you commit to just walking in there.

  11. I think I need to buy a white board for my craft room now!

  13. You'd be surprised how much you can sew in ten minutes as long as you've got it all ready to go!

  14. Love your sewing studio. And I have a big standup freezer in the corner of mine so I use it and pretty magnets to hold swatches, ideas, plans, notes.

  15. Ok, what is OMG short for? Your goals being displayed is what I need to do. I wrote my goals to link here, just because you told us that was the linky! And now I am off to tidy up some more. Have a great new year. Enjoy the snow, we have rain and melting snow here, yuck.

  16. First off a Very Happy New Year to you Val! It's great you and your hubby's schedules are dovetailing together so you two turtle doves can enjoy the quilt space together (just make sure he knows it's all still YOURS)! The whiteboard should be a good prompt, it's hard to stay focused unless you SEE all that you want to accomplish. It's so funny, I also printed out that "Quilter's Brain" graphic a while back and always wanted to actually get around to really making up in fabric! JOY to your Quilt World, May Finishes Come!

  17. Talk about organization and self inspiration! We all have our ways of motivating ourselves, but doing a list on a visible whiteboard would put me into a quilter's panic attack. I'd have to use a journal so I could check it during my quiet and bored moments (which are few). Great topic and interesting to find other methods to accomplishing our goals.

  18. Quilters are so visual, of course, so your white board is an excellent way to keep up and stay on track. Maybe a poster of some kind would also help me! I really enjoyed your post today.
