Go from this....
...to this, real quick:
Take a charm pack or any ol' bundle of 5" squares and sew them into 9-patch blocks.
Then cut the 9-patch block in half lengthwise:
and crosswise:
Now rotate the small cut squares one turn to left from the center:
Sew the four small blocks back together into a larger block and walla:
Sew your larger blocks together (don't forget to nest those seams!) and you are done.
Just a little spin to my baby quilt WIP. This is ready to quilt...maybe a Friday Finish??

ReplyDeleteI made a disappearing 9 patch from doggy prints and loved it to bits - only it was for my Godchild I'd have kept it! Love the little pops of colours you've gotten in your fabric placement.

ReplyDeleteIt seems simple, but it certainly added a lot more pizzazz to the layout.
ReplyDeleteI did this with a quilt for my mum recently. Its all in blue and white and I used a white sashing between the blocks to break it up. I love how easily it creates interest and how much faster the cutting is than cutting all those rectangles and squares.

ReplyDeleteNot only does the disappearing 9 patch look great, but it's very fun to slice through those big squares! First time I did it, I felt like I was living life on the edge. Now? Not so scary.
