"Bloom" QAL Finished!

The Front:

This finish measures 62"x 72". 

The Quilting:

Yes I broke all the rules and did a Daisy on a String pantograph on this applique quilt...and I love it! 

This is a loose pattern that didn't take away from the applique. I think that was the key.

 Annnddd a peek at the Back:

Another happy finish that was a great stash buster.

On the Frame This Week...

Oh Happy Day everyone!

I finally finished my Bloom SAL project and I couldn't be more pleased with the results.

Don't ya just love that feeling when ya finish something made entirely from your stash. 

When I very first starting quilting, I collected fat quarters of 30's repro's everywhere I went...so you can imagine how good it felt to dig into that stash for this adorable Lori Holt SAL. 

I'm on my way to put this one on the quilting frame and am looking forward to another Friday Finish this month...that will be TWO "old" WIP completed this month! Gotta' love that!

Stay-cation Day 3: Bloom QAL #1-8

I spent the afternoon getting caught up on my Bloom QAL blocks.

It's fun playing with my stash of 30's and Lori has great tips that sure make these easy peasy to put togethter. Red sure is an eye catcher. I'll have to be sure to balance that out as I go.

Tonight, I'm going to prepare blocks 9-12 as I watch the Season Premier of Dancing With the Stars!

Get blocks nine and ten sewn up tomorrow...then I'll not only be caught up, but actually ahead.

Gotta love that feeling! I know Tonya is doing this QAL but wonder if anyone else is??

Captain Heartbreak

Speading Valentine's weekend with our little Heartbreaker...

 Both hubby and our son-in-law have to work most the weekend, so I traveled to my daughter's.
We have our sewing machines set up and I never mind getting interrupted for after nap cuddles.

In-between cuddles, story time and lots of play time,

Thank you for your very kind comments on my Spreading Kindness post. Due to traveling this weekend, I haven't been on-line until now. Need-less-to-say, your compliments really made my day.

How did I NOT know about this tool?!

Seriously!!! 

I have been doing applique for years and never knew what a 1/4" Clover Bias Maker tool was, let alone that I could use it to create stems for my applique projects...in seconds!!

So easy peasy....I made a whole spool full! I'm hooked!

A Sew Along full of new learning already!

What do you enjoy most about a sew along?
I'm participating in Lori Holt's Bloom Sew Along and have already learned so much. First, okay, there's that amazing little tool mentioned above that is going to save me a ton of time in the future. (I'm definitely getting all the other sizes!)

Secondly, I'm also learning a new way to applique using Pellon interfacing in a lightweight non-fusible.(Click HERE to read Lori's tutorial.) I'm finding this method to be quick and easy with a neatly finished edge. I plan to machine applique my blocks using a blanket stitch for this sew along. 

 I prepared the applique pieces the evening before and was able to have my block sewn together in a half hour after work.  Bam! NOw that's what I'm talking about! Here's my first block:

Our finished blocks measure 12 1/2" x 12 1/2".

Guess what! I'm even stash busting my 30's tub of fabric for this one!

Don't ya love that feeling?!?!

(I know, I know, a lot of exclamation points in this post...the littlest things really do make me happy!)
