Ta-Da! I finished the cover for my new little hand-stitching bag this morning:
It's a little Yazzii tote I got on clearance earlier this month. Closed, it measure 7x9.5x3 inches and will make the perfect keeper of all my hand-stitching supplies and travel projects.
It has eight zippered compartments that have see-through panels.
Here's a peek inside mine:
Needles, pens, pencils, nail files, binding clips, mini rulers:
Applique pins, seam ripper, scissors, and there's another pocket for my thread:
My travel pin cushion, thread catcher, and project are kept in the final pouches:
In my previous post, some of you questioned how I as going to attach my cover.
Once I got the "cover" done....which is really just a mini quilt, I clipped it to the bag:
Then just hand stitching it to the tote using a small whip-stitch:
(It's surprisingly really secure.)
I've been searching high and low for the "perfect" travel bag for my hand-stitching and I think this one is going to be the perfect solution....plus it's so darn cute that I love using it!!!
Curious is you have a "go-to" tote for your hand stitching and what you keep in yours?

This is just adorable! I can see why you will want to use it all the time. Just the right size, too. Right now I just use several “gift with purchase” bags that came with cosmetics over the years. They are decent looking, but don’t have compartments like your bag has. I like yours so much more!
ReplyDeleteFabulous, so pretty!! How easy it was to attach too!!
ReplyDeleteYou did a beautiful job. I do not have a travel stitchery tote....but I want one now....
ReplyDeleteI use a ziplock bag.
ReplyDeleteThis is the sweetest little stitchery tote, Val. I do not have one but if I did and I told you what's hiding inside.....I would have to kill you. =)
ReplyDeleteIt turned out darling, Val!! Love all those bright colors and the happy little flowers :) I'm sewing all my I-spy squares into blocks this week and having such a good time!
ReplyDeleteHow clever you are and so cute! Everything in it's place and handy for travel!
ReplyDeleteVal, you certainly took that boring but practical bag to a new level of cutest.
ReplyDeleteYou rock!!!
Connie :)
Love your tote! You have given me an idea!
ReplyDeleteWhat a terrific idea. It turned out really well. Definetly something you'd want to take along anywhere.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! What a great way to make a tote your own.
ReplyDeleteSo clever Val!! Super cute. I use a number of odds and ends - sometimes a little zip pouch I made and if I need lots of stuff - a very fancy zip lok bag.
ReplyDeleteCute!
ReplyDeleteThis is a very nice tote, Val. I love the stitchery you put on the front.
ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeous 💖👌 great job!
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty bag. You did an excellent job on it.
ReplyDeleteWow, this looks fantastic!!! Such a great bag for on-the-go stitching! I admit that I also wondered how you were going to attach the applique tot he bag, so thanks for showing that step!
ReplyDeleteI love all your additions (inside and out) to this bag. I use a sew together bag for my hand sewing. One thing I keep in there is a small zip bag to put clipped threads in.
