This week we'll be singing them here at Tuesday Archives!

Today we get to skim through our archives and rejuvinate  any of  our projects (whether they be embroidery, wool, or even sewn) that showcase the alphabet. (No matter what language)

Stay-cation Day 8: Little Letters Finish

From the design wall to being quilted...
I'm nearing the end of my little stay-cation with another WIP done!

My version of the Temecula Quilt Co. QAL is a little different since I didn't use sashing or cornerstones. I like that is was a stash buster (I have soooo much 30's fabrics). It will make an adorable crib quilt measuring a nice 42"x 56". 

 

I couldn't resist quilted it using my ABC/123 pantograph:

So what's left on the ol' stay-cation list?? A few things...but that is a-okay with me. I got some WIP done. My walking mileage is built back up (Tomorrow I'll have 18 miles walked this week!) I puttered and relaxed. Best of all, I have some slow stitching to look forward to as I enjoy sewing this Little Letters binding down right here in my favorite afternoon spot:

BTW...what ya think of the purple backing? I haven't used a lot of purple. But since the recipient of this quilt is unknown, I wanted to make sure it was unisex. My mom uses lavender often when knitting baby blankets, so I followed her lead and thought it was the perfect compliment to this scrappy finish. (And the yellow binding coordinates perfectly with its little flowers.) 

Tonight will find us winding down with friends coming over for dinner, wine and a little card playing. Then tomorrow, Jackson and I are off for a country drive to his breeder. He'll get his playday, spring grooming and be such a good looking boy afterwards!  I'll share his day with ya tomorrow after we get home, especially because so many of you enjoy his presence here on the ol' blog and are pet lovers yourself.

Stay-cation Day 6: My ABC Flimsy

Welcome to day six for those of you "following" along and keeping me company during my little "Spring Stay-cation" I'm having. I spent the better part of the morning getting my ABC quilt top finished! YAH ME!!! Seriously, I think this Temecula Quilt Co. Little Letters QAL started back in September. I got sidetracked through the winter months...and it's one of those finishes that feels great to have done! 

This Little Letters flimsy measures 46"x52" and was made using my 30's repro stash!

Buttttt....as eager as I was to get this on the long-arm, I quickly discovered I don't have enough fabric for the back. Darn it! Now I have to go to the quilt store!! LOL!  Hey! What's a vacation without a little fabric shopping....right! So today, my guy got off early and now starts his weekend. I'm taking a break from the sewing room and I think we are going to get in some Costco shopping and yes, stop at that fabric store on the way! Stay-cation Day 2: Just Quilting Along

Two more things I get to cross off my Stay-cation list:

My I-Spy squares cut and ready to send as happy mail to fellow blogging buddies.(Trading with blogging buddies is truly the  funniest way to collect for an eye spy quilt!)

And I finished quilting some commission quilts:

...on this cute little ABC quilt made from the Temecula Quilt Co. QAL last Fall.

I had fun quilting it and am now reinspired to finish my own ABC quilt  I plan on using the same pantograph with white thread on my quilt too. 

On this Lori Holt Christmas Quilt quilt I used my Christmas Cookies pantograph:

I love how this customer fussy cut the gingerbread people into the windows and how lucky that the  gingerbread and candy patterns fell right on this block!! So cute!!!

Time for an afternoon walk with Jackson and tonight will find me relaxing as I continue to hand sew the binding on my rainbow pinwheel quilt. Thanks for stopping my and keeping my company on my little stay-cation here. Until tomorrow...

Little Letters QAL: T & U

It's only 16 degrees outside, so pretty easy to stay inside and sew. This week I had some snow fabric I couldn't resist using for my T. I found a little ukulele player for the letter U. Don't ya just love his little polka-dot shorts?!

Below is a peek at what my Little Letters are looking like on the design wal. Annddd...Oh My! I just noticed as I was creating this post,that I used the same little polka-dotted "ukulele" fabic for my M block (M is for Mice)as well!! I'm literally cracking up at myself! Oh well...just shows how much I like those little mice in their polka dotted shorts I geuss!

This continues to be a fun way to start my Sunday sewing. And now that I'm warmed up, I'm off to work on my ALYofF Nov. Goal. Hope your weekend has been great!

Little Letters QAL: P, Q, R, S

My Little Letters continues to be a fun WIP.

I loved the prints I found in my 30's stash for this week's letters:

P is for Puppies.

Q is for Quilting.

R is for Ribbons.

S is for Shoes.

Little Letter QAL: N & O

Happy sewing on a cool Fall morning as I keep up with the Little Letters QAL at Temecula Quilt Co.'s blog.  Today, N is for Nursery Rhymes and O is for Original...

I've also been keeping up on my 15 minutes a day, as I enjoy some slow stitching 

in the evenings by working on my Wool BOM:

Little Letters QAL: J, K, L , M

Still singing my ABC's as I got caught up on my Little Letters this morning:

J is made from a Jack-n-Jill print.

K from a Kitchen print.

L from Little Letters. 

M from a cute polka-dot Mouse print.

The afternoon found me enjoying a long walk and some slow stitching outside.

Little Letters QAL: H, I

My alphabet is growing and has made it's way to the design wall:

H and I were quick to make this morning and I'm loving the solid letters with 30's fabric! I'm off to treat myself to a pumpkin latte' then it's back to working on my grandson's birthday quilt. Hope ya get in a little sewing yourself today.

Little Letters QAL: E,F & G

E is for Elephants, F is for Farm and G is for Garden:

When I starting quilting a few years ago, 30's prints were the very first fabric I started collecting. I  have an entire tub of precut 2 1/4" strips that I use for my hexagons.
I plan to continue my stash busting of these...

...and also use them to "frame" my little letters:

I'm not sure if I'm going to sash my blocks together with a cream or just sew them together scrappy style?? I think once I get A, B, C and D, framed up this week and on the design wall, they'll start to "talk" to me. (I hope!) Anyhoo, I'll be spending my Sunday afternoon right here quilting these two tops:

Happily sewing and puttering around the house today, with a 3 mile walk on the horizon. Nope! drove into the city to pick up a table for our studio remodel instead of walking!!

Little Letters QAL: A,B,C

I'm joining Tanya who blogs at Tanya Quilts in CO  for this ABC Little Letters Quilt Along over at Temecula Quilt Co.'s blog.  A little letter will be posted each Sunday and Wednesday and the pattern's are totally free!! The finished quilt will measure 34x39 inches with 4 inch finished blocks. Perfect Baby Crib Quilt size don't ya think!

My ABC School Quilt

Being new to long-arm quilting ( 1year), sometimes I just need to play and practice. I've had this panel in my stash for 20 years!!! Yes! 20 years. I wanted to be a quilter for a long time but quilting is not an easy hobby to pick up when you are in your mid twenties, starting a new career, newly married with two wee ones born within the first three years. But despite the many moves, and chapters so far lived in life, this panel  has endured every purge! SO! When I decided quilting was going to be my empty nest hobby...this was my first quilting practice/project when I bought my long-arm machine:

2011 Classroom Quilt

The Details:

I free-motion quilted a letter of the alphabet in each block with 

stars connecting them. I had so much fun!

  I love rick-rack so added a touch of it for a mini border! 

 The back I made a little scrappy.

Lesson learned:

I need to be more whimsical with my quilting! The perfectionist comes out in me, truly driving me crazy sometimes. LOL! I know...right! But seriously, I had nothing to loose here and it came out great yet when I do try "too hard" I always make mistakes. Love that life is a series of lessons and growth.

So this quilt is added to my collection of classroom quilts.  Each year I enjoy making a quilt for my class and love that  the pile continues to grow. It makes my heart sing to see my second graders cuddled up in them reading!
