Two years ago I made this sunflower, pinwheel tablecloth to add a little pop to our summer dining. I used no batting and simply quilted the top and back. (Click HERE to see the original post.)

Snow Update

Things are finally getting back to normal in our little part of the world.

Our snow melt has been gradual and it's actually kinda strange to see grass and roads again.

 I smiled as I saw this heart shaped ice on my way to check the mail:

Thinking how crazy it is that this simple heart is all that's left from this:

But even the geese can see again and I think it's safe to say that we're all

 looking forward to seeing a bit more green around here as Spring gradually nears.

Wrapping up another work week, looking forward to the weekend ahead. For no particular reason, except for the fact I can spend some time in my studio with the freedom to let inspiration take hold. 

Play Ball: FMQ on a Project Linus Quilt I quilted last year.

I'm starting a new month making no lists. I have no expectations. (Though yes, I may have plenty of UFO's)  I was admittedly inspired by my students yesterday as I watched them tackle a creative project. As I watched, I was reminded how important it is to just let my own creative spirit flow. How important individuality is. How creativity shouldn't be limited to a set "to do" list. 

(Though those lists DO help keep my jabillion ideas organized! LOL!)

But, lately I have been feeling limited and uninspired. I've been playing with many creative ideas in my head that aren't even about quilting.  I've been toying with the idea of giving the ol' blog here a face-lift.....a new design and name that aren't limited to quilting, as I really like blogging but think I'd be  inspired by a new name.  So this weekend, this month, I'm just going to {Play} in my studio and with my blog.  I'm going to let my creative juices lead the way.

 I'm going to enjoy the process and look forward to how things evolve.

Welcome! Well, if  you are familiar with my organizing methods, 

you already know I organize my fabrics my color.

The same rule applies to my threads.
This week I'll share a peek into my studio to share how I store my variety of threads:
(But please do feel free to share ANY posts about thread this week.)

Long-Arm Spool Storage:

We found this shelf in a thrift store years ago. 

Note: They are displayed out of direct light.

Applique Thread: 

I pre-round all these bobbins from my spools of cotton thread. 

These little cases are so much easiter to keep in my applique tote.

I still need to get some bobbin covers as 

I always have strands of  thread handing out. 

Perle Cotton for wool projects:

I use an embroidery case for these.

And finally....

Thread for Piecing:

I'm kinda boring here, and keep in a nearby jar, white, black or a light lavender thread.
My go-to thread has always be Master Piece from Superior Threads, but a bloggy friend sent me some Aurifil thread to try and I truly noticed a wonderful difference in my stitch! 

Feb. OMG: No Valentine Quilt

And here my Valentine Quilt sits....awaiting it's turn at the sewing machine.

I have no idea why really, except for the simple fact February seemed to have zoomed by right before my eyes. My husband teases it's due to the fact I've had to get use to working again since our unforeseen January series of snow storms. (Even this morning's inch of snow didn't phase us.)

Truth be told, I have been enjoying the day by day flow of my life. My daily workouts, reading and watching movies as I stitch the binding of a quilt I finished almost three years ago! 

I've truly felt calm and as if I've been truly just carrying on, peaceful in my own shoes.

Life is good.
