I started the day with this text from my son-in-law
(note: he's a die-hard Seattle Sea Hawks fan!):
(note: he's a die-hard Seattle Sea Hawks fan!):
Son-in-Law: "So one of my friend's Grandma made this for her:
You could do something like that right?!"
My reply: "Absolutely! This is what I do....do I have a request coming my way??"
Son-In-Law: "I never doubted you! HAHAHA You most definitely do have a request, maybe a surprise for Christmas...to add to our amazing quilt collection."
Me: "I would love to!" (Of course!!)
Son-In-Law: "Yeah!!!! You're the best!!"
Isn't that just one of the most ultimate compliments we can get as a quilter!?!
I had to share with you guys, as his request made my day! I truly adore my son-in-law...so I'm happily off to shop for some Seattle Sea Hawk fabric...that's what I'm up to today.
With smiles,
Val:)

Fun! I'm starting a baby quilt this week that is a request from a friend who is expecting her first grandchild. It's nice to be able to make something that others want but can't make.
ReplyDeleteYou are complimented as a quilter, but this is more than that. You are his Mother In Law! A guy almost always feels a repulsion to his MIL. It's almost required. I always call mine my favorite SIL... it's a joke, he is my only SIL.(I do think of him as a son.) He still thinks badly of me. I made him a really nice quilt with birds and (wild) flying geese all around the outside. (He had just lost his parents - within a year of each other.) So your SIL actually asking you for a quilt, well, in my book, that's major! I'm impressed.
ReplyDeleteWill you make the same pattern? We know what colors....
Sorry, I forgot the
ReplyDeleteHugs
Fantastic compliment. And you'll have great fun every step of the way. Big smiles.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful request. Don't you just Love when someone Loves what you do? Congrats!
ReplyDeleteOh man absolutely!!!!
DeleteWow, now that is really special! Makes me feel so good for you. I love it when the kids have requests. Lucky you!
ReplyDeleteMe too!!! Makes the sewing even more fun!
DeleteYou have not just had a request, but a request by an in-law (he must love you), and a request by a man! That's like a super-duper compliment!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more! :)
DeleteIf this doesn't say he loves you, I don't know what does! :) xoxo
ReplyDeleteYou have now a beautiful new project for somebody who will appreciate it for sure!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you have a really nice son-in-law who appreciates nice things!
ReplyDeleteWow, that had to make your day or perhaps even your week, I know it would mine. I am so excited to see your finished quilt.
ReplyDeleteAwesome quilt. Awesome compliment. Looking forward to the quilt you add to your amazing collection of quilts ... :) Pat
ReplyDeleteYour daughter has chosen wisely! A SIL who appreciates hand made and loved things! Smart guy!!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing the quilt you make for your SIL. How sweet he wanted a quilt. You already know he'll love and appreciate it since he asked for you to make him a quilt.
ReplyDeleteThat is so great! You're right Val - it is that kind of confidence that a loved one has in you, knowing you can come through for them, that really gives quilters a burst of joy! Go Sea Hawks!
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome compliment. To know even before buying the fabric that the quilt would be used and loved.
ReplyDeleteOh, I know the feeling. My SIL asked if I could make a Chicago Bears quilt for my grandson. I have it done lickly split!
ReplyDeleteYes, requests are wonderful. Just had one last week from my son and I love him for it!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful request! How could you say no to that. :-)
ReplyDeleteRequests from family are always fun. What's even better is when you see them using what you've made them.
