This week's theme is: "PINK!"

Looking through my own archives this past two week's, has me relooking at my stash. I've used some of theses fat quarters but not all........which leaves to wonder what kind of projects lie ahead??
Curious how often you really look through your stash?? I know this year, I'm using the monthly OMG linky as a motivation to de-stash projects and fabrics this year...and THAT feels good.

Feb. OMG Valentine Flimsy Finish

Inspired by Carole's quilts for the California Thomas Fire victims, I used the Perkiomen Valley Block Pattern that was posted on the Ventura Quilt Guild Website to destash and finish my Valentine fabrics into a cozy 72" x 72" quilt top for my February OMG. This is destash project #2...done!
I grabbed a quick picture of my Feb. OMG finish before work today. We had another couple inches of  that light, fluffy kind of snow last night meaning this would get way too wet if I tried to take pictures outside today. But, I wanted to get my finish posted for the linky.  I'll be sure to show much better pictures once it's quilted and the binding is on. But I sure do like it!

I do however, have this cute pile of 4 1/2" squares left-over. It includes 55 light and 20 dark patterns as seen above. I thought about adding two more rows to this top but decided to add a flannel backing and use it as a comfy winter couch quilt. Okay. Be sure to leave a comment if you are interested in receiving this little bunch as a happy mail delivery to you. Congrats to follower Kristy!
This give-away is closed.

A Perfect Sew Day Ahead!

We kinda thought old man Winter forgot about us this year as we've only had one snow before today.
And quite honestly, we have been absolutely okay with that after our "Snowmagddon" last year.
Yet, as I sat and face-timed with my grand guys and daughter this morning and watched it begin to snow...that exhilaration that snow brings started to rev up its little motor.

All's I  could think of was: "Lucky me", I get to relax and spent the better part of my day right here, busily sewing to complete my February OMG...knowing I, of course,  have some snow shoveling ahead me later today. (Which I don't mind) But without the distractions of wanting to be outside.
Grateful am I to have the company of my faithful pup and a hobby I enjoy so very much on a such a Wintery day. How about you? What do you find yourself grateful for today?

This week's theme is: "RED!"

A few years back I built my stash by registering for a Happy Mail
delivery of fabric in the mail each month.
Man, that was fun! Now, three years later, I find myself dedicating each month to stash busting....
oh so it the life of a quilter. Hey! I don't feel too bad. As when I went to pick up my long-arm last week, my consultant had "moved" her long-arms out of her house and into a little building on their property that they used as a rental and as I was complimenting her move...she responded: "If only we had enough room out here for all my fabric. It's still in all the closets and drawers in the house!"

Prepping the Final Block...

We started the day having brunch with friends and are avoiding a dreary, cold afternoon outside by watching movies and I'm busy prepping the final block of my Anni Downs BOM.
Looking forward to relaxing and spending the rest of the day just stitching.

New Rainbow Girl Center

I can't believe I've been working on this quilt on and off for three years.
It's just one of those "creative projects" that evolves as I make it up...
or in this case, remake it as I go.
The center went from this:

To this:

I sewed the new center right over the old one and once finished,
just cut the old one away on the back side:

Now my creative mind is looking at finishing it with a black flower printed border.  A purple prairie point border  between it and the quilt, finishing it with a lime green binding. What do ya think?

Back to Basics Checklist

Twelve hour parent conference days are now behind me and
I settled into my studio today as I began to enjoy a four day weekend...at home!
I love being home and am looking forward to a little "at-home" sewing retreat of my own.
But! Before I do, I thought it would be a good time to get back to the basics and
give my sewing machines and tools some much needed TLC!
You can get in every last nock & cranny to grab all the dust bunnies hiding inside your sewing machine with this pipe cleaner brush. Learn how to make it on The Sewing Loft
Love this idea. Click HERE to check it out.
I created a checklist to share....
1. LINT CHECK: Pull out those screw drviers, remove the foot plate and bobbin and clean out the lint. Perhaps add a a few drops of oil.
2. CHANGE THE NEEDLE: I am much better about changing the needle on my long-arm than I am on my sewing machine. Admittedly, I wait till a needle breaks to even think about changing it. With tha said, I can't even pluck blood from my finger with my current needle! Egads right! Seriously, my stitches are better, tension wonderful and my machine hums now.
3. CHANGE YOUR ROTARY BLADE: Why do we allow ourselves to struggle with cutting? I read, as soon as the blade starts to skip and not cut through the same amount of fabric consistently, change it. Don't wait. Oh and while you are at it, also wipe the lint from the rotary cutter.
4. CHECK YOUR SEAM RIPPER: If you use a ripper for your stitches check to see if the pointed end feels dull. If is is, buy a new one. I'm learning they don't last forever, and the dull end actually makes it harder to rip those stitches out as I find myself catching fabric more.

I also got my long-arm back from getting it's first over-haul of maintenance and parts replaced since I bought it six years old. OH you should hear it hum. I'm humbly reminded that our machines are an investment that need the same maintenance and TLC that our cars and other appliances with motors get. Soooooo now I'm curious to know if you are better at routine machine/tool maintenance than me? And if so, please do share how you remind yourself to do so as for me, time seems to pass so fast.

This week's theme is: "Valentines Day!"

Okay...bear with me. But, my two very favorite holidays are yes, Valentines Day and Thanksgiving.
I just love how everyone comes together and are so kind and loving to eachother.
Tomorrow we will be having our annual classroom "cupcake" decorating party. The kids love it!
Seriously, look at this little one's cupcake from a few years ago.
Her treats are literally falling off the top of her cupcake!
(Don't worry. They never end up eating all this and most goes home in a sandwich bag.)
So this week, please feel welcome to join me in spreading a little love. Either dig through your archives or create a NEW post this week sharing how you celebrate Valentines Day!

Moving it Forward....

The scrappy flowers that I started last month took a turn for the brighter side...
...and will provide some fun stitching this week. I seriously can't wait to show you how I'm going to use them to change the center on my Rainbow Girl quilt later this week.
Until then, I hope your week is off to a great start!!

A Happy Anniversary & More!

Oh My! I've been off having fun on vacation to sunny Arizona where we grew up.
Hubby and I celebrated our 29th Anniv...

...and my Dad celebrated his 80th.

Both on Super-Bowl Sunday! Can you say P A R T Y!!!!!

Yes! We got married on my Dad's birthday and never has a year gone by without the ongoing "joke" that my husband gets a "check-in-the-mail" every month for taking me off his hands. ARG!

We traveled together as a family and our little guy so enjoyed his first plane ride from Oregon to Arizona. Lucky me! He INSISTED that he had to sit by his Meme on both flights!

I especially love this photo taken of the two of us on "family picture day".

Oh man we just had soooo much fun! We ate cake. (My niece making sure I got a corner piece.)

We enjoyed seeing old friends and our cups were overflowing with fun!
This is me with my son-in-law and maid of honor from 29 years ago!
Our little family of six traveled so well together and we truly had a great time on our adventure.

Our new guy, already eleven weeks old, traveled amazingly. His mother so patient.

Annndddd I absolutely love that my mom got to see and cuddle her new great grandson!

We stayed with one of our family friends, who is also a quilter, and I can't believe I didn't take a picture of the gorgeous king size quilt she just finished! (Darn it!) But is was fun to talk quilting and rummage through her stash and talk about projects as we wished we had more time together.
But as every good vacation entails, we must repack our bags and journey ourselves homeward.
I have two whole days of work this week (Thank goodness as I'm exhausted! LOL!!) and plan to spend a better part of Saturday doing laundry and sewing my February OMG project. Easy sewing which I'm sure will prove to be rejuvenating. Thanks so much for stopping by! I'm looking forward to visiting your blogs and catching up with all of you. Seriously, I even missed my own Tuesday Archives this week! LOL!!! Oh well, life is good!
