I enjoy binding by hand.
With that said, lucky me, I have five quilts awaiting me.
There's just something relaxing about this kind of slow stitching in the evenings after a long day of work. And now that the evenings are gradually getting darker earlier, I won't be as distracting by the temptations of being outside. As you can see, I have plenty of stitching to keep me busy as Summer begins to turn into Fall and we find ourselves using lap quilts once again. It's hard to say which is my favorite slow-stitching, as I enjoy applique, my hexi's, wool and binding. Geuss it's safe to say I like the variety. Which leaves me to wonder....do you have a favorite slow stitching or like variety too??

ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful pile of stitching fun!
I like variety, too. Great pile of quilts! Yes, the nights are getting here quicker and cooler which makes for great lap work time.
ReplyDeleteVariety is the spice of life :-)
ReplyDeleteOh I have to vote for variety too!
ReplyDeleteI do like having something to work on by hand in the evenings when the days get shorter. (I also like doing it outside in the summer, but this year there were too many mosquitoes.) And I love the feel of a quilt on my lap when it's cold. I'm usually a one-project-at-a-time gal, but I'm learning the benefits of variety.
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried piecing by hand, but love hand quilting. I also like the hand stitching bit of binding, though I've never had a pile of 5 waiting for me - that might be a quilt too far.
ReplyDeleteLOL!! I had a lot of time to sew this summer...but it was too hot to bind.
DeleteIt does sound relaxing. My mother used to knit for her relaxation. :O)
ReplyDeleteNice looking stack of quilts there, Val. I have many types of handwork that I enjoy. Currently, I am knitting and the project is one that I have made many times. So that means that it is also mindless...I can use mindless right now ;)
ReplyDeleteI like variety too! And I love to bind quilts by hand. I hate the look of machine binding. Have fun!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your binding...you certainly do have a pile of it! But that means much accomplishment prior to that last task! :)
ReplyDeleteI don't know what it is with me. Binding stitching, the by hand part, is the same as the applique stitch. But I never enjoy binding. I really need to make my mind approach it differently...the way that so many of you do! :)
I always do my bindings by hand...very relaxing to me.
ReplyDeleteI love to stitch in the evenings. I am just getting ready to sew in a binding tonight. But any hand work makes me happy!
ReplyDeleteWow--you have quite a stack of quilts there--good thing you like to sew bindings!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy hand binding also. And I can highly recommend those red clips for just that purpose. But you probably know that. For some reason it seems to move along well
ReplyDeleteFive quilts to bind! You have been busy this summer. I enjoy hand work, appliqué, hand piecing, hand quilting and hand stitching a binding!
ReplyDeletehappy binding, I too enjoy hand swing the binding, I know some do it my machine it is a lot quicker but hand every time for me.
ReplyDeleteI hope to find some time to get some of the pile of tops quilted so that I can have some binding to sew and then have them finally done.
ReplyDeleteYou will be busy with bindings. I enjoy the relaxing stitching time with them too. I have about 9 quilts waiting to be quilted. It is my aim to get some done this month then I will have some bindings to do
ReplyDeleteI love hand binding in front of the fire! I can't wait to get some quilts ready for this step! Although lately I have machine sewn down bindings on quilts that I know will be heavily loved and washed like for babies and kids. Happy back to school!
ReplyDeleteI like to sew the binding also. I don't think I will ever have five to do at once though. Wow. Enjoy your stitiching.
ReplyDeleteI'd have to say that hand quilting is probably my most favorite handwork, although hexies are a close second. ;-)
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely stack of finishes!! Love stitching on binding...that tells me that I have a FINISH and can finally move on ...GUILT FREE!!:o)
ReplyDeleteI'm like you...I like a variety of small hand work. I love stitching the binding, working on hexies, doing (very) simple hand appliqué, knitting, etc.
ReplyDeleteI like doing the hand bindings too, yet I never seem to have one last very long. I need to do what you have done and stack a few up during the week so I have football hand work to do while watching the games.
ReplyDeleteI like bindings and embroidery as my slow stitching endeavors. I seem to make time for finishing bindings, but not for doing the embroidery.
