Every now and then, while it seems no one else has trouble sleeping...
...I find myself tip toeing down the stairs in my bathrobe much earlier than usual...simply ready to greet the day before it has even begun. I fix myself a warm cup of tea, light the fire and enjoy the solitude of my little desk corner. I blog. I read. I create lists of projects and ideas. I be.
This early morning however, I find myself rebuilding and adding you all back to my list of quilty friends on my sidebar, as I don't know if it's happened to any of you, but blogger LOST my entire list of blogs that I follow on my sidebar! One day, they were....just GONE!
In the three in half years I have been blogging, it's interesting to sit here as I rebuild my list and notice those who have discontinued their blogs, those of you who are my "virtual quilting guild" is and which blogs I simply like to follow from the sidelines.
Since my blog is my only form of "social networking", I like my follower list here. I like checking in with everyone each morning and afternoon. This quilt blog is my creative motivation/outlet. I'm inspired to do better work and get things done knowing I have you to share my projects with. So thank you for following and being part of my quilty adventure. If you don't see your blog on my sidebar....please, please do let me know, as I'm pretty much rebuilding using from my snail mail list of bloggy friends, comments, and my blogger reading list.
I like your term "virtual quilting guild". I feel the same way. It's a nice start to the day to check in with everyone and see what they've gotten done, follow along with what's going on in their life, what fun stuff is on their radar. It's one inspiring group of quilter's who blog.
ReplyDeleteEXACTLY!!!
DeleteMy first cup of coffee and my blog list get my day moving. y only social networking too :)
ReplyDeleteSee, that's what it's like for me too! Thanks Deb!
DeleteGlad to see that I'm on your list!
ReplyDeletePugs and kisses,
Nancy
Haha
ReplyDeleteI do the same. Check in the morning then late at night. I am even there in the afternoons if I have time.
I love seeing what everyone does. It gives me inspiration to keep going. Blogger has been a pain to many lately...
That happened to me the other week as well...not sure what happened...
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine how dreadful it would be to loose your whole list of blogs! I do my catch up with my morning coffee as well. It's a great way to start the day.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lot of work! I think a whole blog post could be done on sidebar lists and maintenance. I cannot tell you how many blog lists I see where there haven't been posts on some in years. Bless you for rebuilding, and thank you for including me! I don't know how you remember all the ones you have, I don't think I could do that without notes, LOL!!
ReplyDeleteI hope you'll add me to your list! I had the same thing happen to me recently - it was quite eye-opening to see how many of those blogs were no longer active when I went to add them back!!
ReplyDeleteI'm blogless, but I do enjoy following you through either Feedly or vis Confessions of a Fabric Addict. Yes, a virtual quilting guild is just the thing for many of us. A surprise benefit of the internet, although it was originally built in part for researchers to share discoveries and knowledge, so not much of a stretch.
ReplyDeleteThe same thing happen to me too, Val! (Last week) So frustrating...anyway my husband managed to pull them all back but in the process I got added blogs that I deleted YEARS ago! I need to take a few hours and go through them and weed them out. I'm like you...I like my morning read!
ReplyDeleteI'm a follower! but I don't find my face in the crowd.
ReplyDeleteI do love the blogs I follow, and it is like a quilting guild and a quilt magazine all rolled together.
When I have trouble with blogging I use the button on the bottom right of my dashboard screen. They recently fixed a problem I had with the slide bar on the right... there wasn't one on my layout screen. It took a while for them to do, but I kept reminding them that it needed doing.
Hugs
Ah, the work of a mysterious gremlin. It is probably a good exercise to just sort thru and see who is active now. Some of my old favorites aren't keeping up with their blogs these days.
ReplyDeleteHi Val! I think it's sometimes nice to wake up early and sit like you say in a quiet sleeping home. Now and then I try to update my blog but to loose all the blog list would be bad. Thank you for having my blog on your list but please change my new address: www.nerospostbox.wordpress.com Thank you! x Teje
ReplyDeleteSounds like a lovely way to start the day! So happy to see I am in your virtual quilt guild! Makes me so happy! I really, really need to spend some time updating my little blog. I have a little no-sewing window coming up so perhaps that will be my goal!
ReplyDeleteGlad you have me on your list.
ReplyDeleteI don't run a side list - heard others complaining of this very problem (some have posted here). I like the term 'virtual quilt guild'
ReplyDeleteLoke you I am an early riser after 4am I fnd it impossible to get back to sleep so all my blogging is done in the early hours! Must check to see if my blog has been interfered with not that I will know how to update it. See I am not on your list hope you follow mw too
ReplyDeleteVirtual Quilt Guild - what a perfect thing to call it. Every morning, without fail : tea or coffee depending on my mood and at least an hour with "my blogs" :) As for my "real" blog (the one I write, not the ones I follow) - as you know it isn't a quilting blog per say, but I'm still a quilter and I do post about quilts among other things, so that's okay :) I'm still a happy camper in my little corner of the community, lol.
ReplyDeleteHi Val. I am a new follower, vaa GFC, Bloglovin', Pinterest, and email. I really do enjoy your blog posts, and have joined in your current link party Everything Pumpkins. 'Would love to be on your blog list. Please come and visit/follow my blog if you do not already. Prim blessings.
ReplyDeleteI do my blog reading when I get in from work as the morning is just too rushed. I love my blog feed and usually start from the top of the list and work back to the last one I read on the previous day. That all changes if a member of the Virtual Quilt Guild (I love that term) is on a trip as then I scan down to find their post first and enjoy the journey with them. Reading the blogs has a very therapeutic effect after a busy and sometimes stressful day. Scamp also adopts the same sleeping position as your little fella.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a sidebar list as I always check in to see what each person is up to when I sign in to blogger. I always love to visit your place, Val. I love your bubbly and vivacious personality. I love the fun and lovely quilts you create and everything else you choose to blog about. I often think what fun it would be to be a student in your class, that would be simply be the best. You inspire me, lovely Val.
ReplyDeleteoh what a bummer that your blog list disappeared that is awful-I would have a difficult time rebuilding mine as I don't have that many readers any more-but I have many that I love to still read and drop by for a visit.
ReplyDeletewhen bloglovin first came out I tried that out and I really never cared for it that much-so I went back to my blog list-I love having it right on my sidebar like you do-I have it set up for the newest posts appear first. everything in one place-I enjoy that so much better-I am doing the same this morning-up early so reading blogs-have an awesome friday
Eek! That is an upsetting blooper on Blogger's part. Best wishes getting it all set up how you want it again Val. I use a sidebar list too, but it needs some work - something that I will undoubtedly keep putting off.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I'm part of your virtual quilting guild and you, mine. I have wanted to redo my list and will have to schedule a day to work on it. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I'm part of your virtual quilting guild and you, mine. I have wanted to redo my list and will have to schedule a day to work on it. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteGlad I am still on your list. I don't blog but love following yours. I hope I am part of your virtual quilting guild. Where I live there are no quilters or shops so your blog makes me feel like I belong. Barb
ReplyDeleteGlad I am on your list. I just checked my blog.. no I am not out there everyday, unfortunately. All is well and your blog is there!
ReplyDeleteI don't blog (or tweet, or FB, or anything else). I follow by email and several of the bloggers I follow have reported the same problem. I hope you have all reported the issue to blogger or whoever it is that hosts your blogs. I have also seen a number of bloggers switch to wordpress, but it's all beyond me. I'm just happy to read about all of you. I've learned a lot and have put too many projects on my quilting bucket list.
ReplyDeleteYes...I'm on a blogger forum about the issue. Many of us in this situation have not received any support and have not had the issue resolved,
DeleteI just checked, and my list is still there. However, after more than two years it can use an update. Thanks for the reminder. Jackson sleeping cracks me up. ;)
ReplyDeleteMy list is still there, but also needs to be updated. I've had other issues with Blogger and have NEVER been able to get any support from them.
ReplyDeleteOh my, what a task. And I am so behind in keeping up with my blogs.
ReplyDeleteI haven't had that problem but a few others had come my way on Bligger. It is very true that blogging is a great way to see what other quilters/Crafters are doing and great for meeting new friends, safely!! Take care.
