Truth be told...

Okay, okay, I have to admit, I've wanted to be a teacher since well, I myself was in Seoncd Grade. 

But truth be told, I secretly would have loved to be a meterorologist too!

I love tracking, watching, and living in a four season area. I also enjoy logging my own little weather reports here on my blog as well...especially since like many of you, I use my blog as a diary of sorts. 

With that said, since that first joyful snowfall last week, we have had over a foot of snow with layers of ice storms stacked inbetween.  This is now the view from our classroom window:

Our neighborhood looks like a wonderland after yet
another day of snow yesterday covered the layers of weekend ice.
My daily walks have officially been replaced with an hour of shoveling snow.

 Luckily Jackson can still find a shallow area under the trees to explore and "take care of business":

 

It's funny how tiring kids in snowpants, boots, mittens and hats can be!

And yet, they just keep on going like the little energizer bunny.

I have one more day until our Winter break and sugarplums of sewing are already dancing in my head! The anticipation is almost as fun as the "retreat of sewing" itself.

Okay, I have to admit, the idea of mitered  corners has eluded me. Yet, as I prepared for this Tuesday's linky, I've come to realize that they can be a wonderful accent to a beautiful quilt.

I found a few U-Tube videos and probably spent too much time on Pinterest...yet, ended inspired how this technique so gracefully "marries" two very different fabrics. This method doesn't look hard.

Winter Celebrations Stitching

 The weather outside may be frightful...

Sunday Morning...freezing fog and an iced driveway.

...but  my stitching has been delightful!

Evenings spent stitching means I got all these pieces finished last week.

With only three more applique pieces left to stitch, I'll soon be putting my Winter Celebrations wall hanging quilt together just in time to enjoy during the Winter months ahead.

Annnnddd...The Snow Continues!

I can not remember the last time it continued to snow for over 24 hours!

Yet, THAT is exactly what's been going on in my little spot of the world.

Never the less, our school district does not call snow days easily.

So the JOY continues....

The snowflakes were so big this morning they actually distracted us from our lessons.

And with almost a foot of snow accumulated,

 there's nothing like getting cabin fever with 30 seven year olds!!

Luckily recess is never skipped! (Kids are so enduring!)

As you can predict, I've had little sewing time this week and man, I seriously thought I was going to having a snow/sew day today!! Darn it! Truly: TGIF!!! 

Joyful First Snow!

Nothing more joyful for me than spending the first snow of the year with kids!

It was so cozy spending the day in our classroom watching the snow fall outside.  

The kids of course, anxiously waiting in anticipation of the recess that was soon to come:

And yes, that is an Elf of the Shelf you may have spied in the first picture.

Meet "Elvin"":

He's a mysterious little elf for sure, with a great sense of humor.

He certainly fills our classroom with the magic and joy of the holiday season!
