Nothing says summer better than a fun picnic quilt! Especially one made of big hexis', fun polka-dots mixed together with some little gnome men and cute cruiser bikes!
Measuring finished at 35"x49", it's small enough to roll up into a bike basket and take a cruise to the nearest park or beach. (Not that I even live near a beach...but it sounds fun doesn't it!?).
I was delighted to have had a bike pantograph and used black thread on the front and back.
Jackson was busy playing with "cousin" Taylor...but of course, kept a close eye on my picture taking!
Hope your weekend has some outdoor fun in store for you as well.
Your backing and quilting are adorable! Great picnic quilt!
ReplyDeleteHi Val!
ReplyDeleteNow that's something that I can relate to! A bike and picnic!
That's a great picnic quilt! That pantograph would be fun to use on solids! In a staight row! The possibilities are many!
Hope your Summer vacation is off to a great start!
Take care,
Joanne

I love the backing fabric nearly as much as the top! Get yourself a child's seat on your luggage rack and peddle your grandson to the woods for a picnic - great fun!
ReplyDeleteGreat choice with the bike pantograph. That is a really lovely touch to it.
ReplyDeleteLove the quilting on this one!
ReplyDeleteCute quilt and love your pantograph. Around here the few times you see bicycles, they have the little kid carriages on the back, with their dogs in them. Jack would like that.
ReplyDeleteI love your quilt and backing. So cute. Hugs,
ReplyDeleteAmazing quilting, great quilt :)
ReplyDeleteLove the quilt - lots of fun. I'd guess that basket still fits Jackson, who wouldn't mind riding atop that beauty.
ReplyDeleteHave fun.
Hugs
I see you are making the most of your summer vacation, so far. I love the hexi quilt and the bicycle quilting is just perfect! I'm surprise Jackson and Taylor weren't all over the quilt :)
ReplyDeleteNice finish. I like the bicycle quilting.
ReplyDeleteLove the fabrics, love the bike panto, love the finished quilt and of course, we love Jackson. And the purple bike it too cute!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun quilt! Did you join the hexie's by machine? That appeals to me more than using English Paper Piecing. Either way, I love the big hexies. And the pantograph is awesome!
ReplyDeleteSo cute! Make yourself a picnic lunch and head off on your cruiser to enjoy your lunch outdoors. :0)
ReplyDeletecan just picture you on your picnic rug, very nice and love the quilting on it so energetic too cycling, have not done that for maybe 40 years!
ReplyDeleteI adore your picnic quilt! Love those bright colours and how you quilted it. A perfect quilt for a summer day!
ReplyDeleteOh that's cool
ReplyDeleteWhat a great quilt to laze in the shade with a good book. I do live near the beach and we have sandy soil so I wonder what batting would be best in those conditions. Poly or cotton? I have some bicycle fabric and you inspired me to make a picnic quilt. Debbie
ReplyDeleteOh, the hexies are bigger than I thought! The quilt looks great, and I l-o-v-e the bike panto done in black!
ReplyDeleteReally nice!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great quilt all the way around!!!
ReplyDeleteA wonderful, summery quilt! Love the photos with the cruiser bicycle and the matching panto quilting you did Val!
ReplyDeleteThis is just perfect for these summer days, lovely colours and perfect bike pantograph
