Many of your are familiar with the water jug vs. the pig competition that goes on in our household.
.
It started out innocent enough when three years ago I bought this little silver piggy bank to collect laundry change (and extra change from around the house). Well two summers ago, he was full and I cashed in at $102.45! I, of course, put my "savings" to good use and stocked up on fabric!!!
You know what they say: a penny saved is a penny earned.
It's been fun to extend the challenge to all of you and am looking forward to seeing who links up.

So over the past two years, between us, we have saved a modest $530.00. Now, I realize that doesn't even compare to some of the awesome savings accomplished by a few of this years participants. I mean Katie who blogs at Karma Willow Designs saved $1,104.00!!! She got herself one of these babies: (And a lot more fun quilty stuff!! ) Man, good job Katie!!
But I'm a penny pincher, always have been, and the occasional "treat" my piggy gives me is fun! I mean Katie seriously impressed and inspired me and she will you too. (Here's a quick link to her penny pinching ways right here ). But for me and many of you I read, even $50 bucks saved in change means a wonderful quilty treat in the end! And, WOW! Thank you to everyone who participated in this year's challenge here. It really is amazing the amount we can save in just a year! (And please do email me if you didn't get you "bonus" savings promo code to Fabrics N Quilts)
So... Now it's time to join/rejoin the Piggy Bank Challenge!

This is exciting Val. I am now in search of my "piggy" bank or what I will use as one anyway. I'll be linking up before the end of today. Thanks for hosting, this should be fun.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to see just how much I can accumulate! Thank you, Val, for the incentive ")
ReplyDeleteI don't have a post or anything about it but I save change to a cup. Then that goes into a small coffee can. Then later on a larger one and generally by Christmas Time, it pays for a ham, turkey and all the sides at the store :)
ReplyDeleteHave already started putting money into the jar for the new year!
ReplyDeleteMe too!
DeleteI have a jar and will save but not link up as it is too complicated for me to follow, will not get much as use my debit card for food shopping and so do not use cash much but will put my small change in
ReplyDeleteHi Val.
ReplyDeleteI haven't even counted mine from the one just finished. So I will do tonight. Not that there is much in it. I haven't done a very good job...
I am planning a trip to Japan so I will be saving hard over the next year.
I'm thinking about joining in. Problem is that we almost never use cash here at Chez Nana. Maybe I should do like Margaret and save what I get but not join in the link-up. ??
ReplyDeleteHey Margaret and Kathy...I'm counting you guys in. DOn't worry about blogging about it...but $20 bucks saved in a year still equals a quilty treat! It's all good...and fun! Thanks for adding the button to your sidebars!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds interesting....I will post soon.
ReplyDeleteyou know I'm back in -- post is up and the goal is pretty high this year (or within the next few years). Thanks for the shout out -- I was wondering why my count was so high on that posting.
ReplyDeleteA penny saved is more than a penny earned because you don't have to pay taxes on it!!!
ReplyDeleteWell, now, this is interesting. I don't plan on linking, but now I think I should consolidate the little box and the little purse and the little bag; which are all packed with change, and see how far ahead I already am!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to continue my savings from last year, because it's been too crazy around here for me to find time to count what I collected last year. So next year I'll have saved a bit extra.
ReplyDeleteI've been doing this for years. I have a HUGE plastic piggy bank which I recently weighed and it was almost 20 pounds. It is only about 1/3 full. :-D Maybe I'll dump it out soon and count the change.
ReplyDeleteIt took me three tries but I finally got the link up. I think this is a fun challenge.
