Nov. OMG: Batik Quilting

I always enjoy watching a quilt transform from a flimsy into a quilt right in front of my eyes.
My respect goes out to those of you who quilt for a living, for after spending a better part of yesterday quilting this one with my Breast Cancer Ribbon pantograph, I WAS tired!
Anyhoo...I did get the quilting done and all's that's left it the binding. Phew!
It's the perfect sewing for my busy week ahead.
Here's hoping you have a little bit of sewing on hand to keep you sane as well.
Tomorrow's theme is: MUG RUGS!

Nov. OMG Batik Progress

I had to take advantage of this sunny afternoon to snap a picture of my batik flimsy.
(As the morning found our neighborhood hidden in fog)
Fall is quickly coming to an end around here and if you look closely at our grass, you can see we aerated the yard today. (Okay hubby did while I sewed....but you get what I mean). But! This does mean I am done mowing for the year!!! I'm on my way to JoAnne's to purchase the minky backing I want to use to finish this flimsy.  I then plan to take advantage of this beautiful, sunny 58 degree afternoon and go for a long walk with good ol' Jackson. Then hope to get this one loaded on the long-arm. Hope your day is filled with a little window of sunshine and sewing as well.

Next week's T.A. theme is MUG RUGS!!

Quilters Honoring Veterans

A shout out to all our Veterans!
Image result for veterans day
Some of you may remember this POST when my husband was honored with as an Operation Quilt Recipient. This quilt below is one of over 6,000 that have been gifted since 9/12/2001 to Active Duty Military, Returning Wounded and Honorably Discharged from all engagements and branches.
I couldn't think of a better day to not only honor our Veterans, but to honor this genuine organization.
All the supplies for the organization's quilts are obtained from donations.
Quilts are lap size, measuring 36"x 47" and have a cozy flannel backing. I love how a heart label is strategically placed in a non-traditional location so it will be close to their heart to bring comfort.
Perhaps there is a branch in your area?
No matter what today, thank you to all our Veterans. May our quilty love comfort  you.

Lone Star Quilts & Projects

Having never made a Lone Star quilt myself, I found myself "wandering" the internet...educating myself as I prep for our linky. I found this Lone Star color sheet at the Quilting Board. (Click here to get it.) I kinda thought it would be fun to sketch a pattern according to my scrap stash.
Admittedly, I have to say this tutorial below that I found at Amy's Diary of a Quilter Blog is more my "quick get 'er done" style. This quilt finishes at 40"x 40"...perfect for a baby quilt. It's a great stash buster or just the right pattern to get rid of that layer cake that's collecting dust on the shelf.
