Holiday Mug Idea

As a teacher, Christmas coffee mugs continue to be the most popular gift received. So about eight years ago I began this little tradition of swapping out all our regular mugs with my growing collection of Christmas mugs. Over the years, it's become a fun little way to enjoy the holidays.
How about you? Do you have an ever growing collection of Christmas mugs?
If so, what do you do with them??

  1. I do the same! I have quite a few from the grandkids and it is a fun way to enjoy them during the snowy months.

  2. I used to do something similar but I retired and downsized a couple of years ago. There is VERY little space for anything that isn't used on a daily basis. A few holiday decorations were spared but the mugs had to go. :-\

  3. That is one serious mug collection! I can see in my crystal ball many hot drinks being enjoyed in those cool mugs over the Winter season. Happy Christmas, lovely Val. Xx

  4. I only have one, and it comes out at Christmastime for the morning coffee. (Not counting the china ones.) A few years ago I took all the ones I had received as gifts and never used, filled them with candy and gave them all away.

  5. That is a great idea. My mom was a teacher. I think the majority of her gifts were decorations.

  9. How did you know, lol? I do have so many Christmas mugs. Some are filled with small holiday items and used as shelf decorations. Others are stored away neatly in bubble wrap. 'Guess it's kinda hoarding them? Esp. since I don't even drink coffee...

  10. I've ALWAYS done that! I start in late November. The only one who rarely plays along is my husband, who likes his certain mugs for his coffee... I even switch out my pen/pencil/scissors holder on the kitchen counter for a snowman one, so I use it throughout January as well, and all the towels, tea towels and even dishcloths are Christmas ones!

  11. My Guy is a huge coffee drinker, so it's one those natural go to gifts for him at the holiday. We've got a couple of boxes of excess mugs up in the attic at this point! I love your collection, holiday mugs are so fun.

  12. This is so funny, Val. I have several Christmas mugs and get at least one new one every year. A couple of years ago I started putting them out to use during the holidays. They are so fun and it is one more way to celebrate Christmas.
