I love fair season and my grand-guy and I spent a good part of yesterday afternoon visiting ours.
Our Classroom Quilt won a blue ribbon in the group quilt division.
The kids will be so excited and I hope many of them see it at the fair this week.
With the new school year quickly approaching, it will find it's new "home" hanging outside my
classroom to greet this year's new class. After which, it will be used by the kids during reading time.
I was thinking as we walked through all the exhibits that I really need to create more entries for the fair. It's so fun to see them all displayed and judged. Do you complete fair entries? If so, curious if they are only quilt entries or what other entries do you have?
I was in 4-H as a kid and entered many a baked good in the fair. I was always excited to see the comments the judges made. I haven't been to a fair in ages, might be time to fix that. Congratulations on your ribbon. Hope the kids are thrilled.
ReplyDeleteI haven't entered in the fair for a long time, but I'm going to next week. We have moved to a new area with no quilt guild, so it will be interesting to see what the people in this area are doing with quilts. Congrats on the ribbon!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the blue ribbon for the class quilt. The kids will be so proud. Hope they are still in the same building this year so they can come back and take a look.

ReplyDeleteHow wonderful, congratulations!! Those kids are going to be excited. Yes, I am one that enters all kinds of contests at the fair - quilts, crafts and photography are the main areas. This year for the first time I am entering two cooking competitions too! And I am thinking about entering one of the gardening competitions as well.
ReplyDeleteThis is so darn cute ; no WONDER that it won and the kids will be over the moon about it! :)
ReplyDeleteI am so happy your class won! Your kids will be over the moon with excitement!!!
ReplyDeleteYay that's exciting news! I've never entered a quilt in the country fair but it's on my to-do list... One day I'll find the time.
ReplyDeleteWow!! A blue ribbon! That's so great. You must be so proud of your class :)
ReplyDeleteI've never entered anything into a fair. Perhaps that will change if we ever settle down in one place. Meanwhile, I'll have to enjoy your entry vicariously!
Oh Wow!! Congratulations to you and your clever students, Val. The hall looks fabulous with the quilts hanging and all the other arts and crafts. Your kids will be so very excited!
ReplyDeleteso good to read the quilt eon a ribbon so well deserved can see more being made when the new term starts. I usually enter into our local show in september which has fruit, vegetables flowers etc as well as craft
ReplyDeleteCongratulations. That is very special. Hear in Australia we call them Shows not fairs but I have often entered in everything from quilts to breakfast trays (yes that's a tray like you would make for breakfast in bed compleate with flowers and cold toast and tea!) I also entered a lot in different craft categories throughout the years.

ReplyDeleteCongrats on the blue ribbon! How fun for you and the kids! I entered a quilt a few years ago in our county fair, but haven't done that in awhile. We've also entered the photography competition. All three of us did well at that one.
