LOOK what my Piggy Bank Savings bought me!

Oh my!!
A penny saved is a penny earned!!
I couldn't wait for my roadtrip to splurge as my piggy bank savings was just burning a hole in my pocket and I found sales on-line too good to resist!
Glad you stopped by!
First up: Buggy Barn Books and Fabric!
I like their patterns as many of them are fat quarter friendly (and well, most my stash is...fat quarters) and they are just so darn fun to make!  I also LOVE their fabric! It's manufactuored by Henry Glass and I stocked up on some half yards for a future applique project I'll be creating. If  you are a Buggy Barn fan you know they went out of business. But wait! One of the sisters opened this on-line site:
Barn Chick Quilts and that's where I shopped.

Next, I shopped at Fabric.com as they had all their novelty Christmas fabric on sale for 20% off so it was the perfect opportunity for me to get yardage for the  Kate Spain Christmas Swap.
These are from Kate Spain's Jinge Rejoice line.
Hey! How did these end up in my cart??
I can never resist polka-dots when they are on sale,
They make my stash happy!

So: $144.20 bought me 10 1/2 yards of yummy fabric and four pattern books!
See why I'm so happy!! Not bad for a year's worth of  collecting extra change.
(Oh and I have .36 cents to put back in the piggy for this year's challenge!)

Receiving Blankets Done

My Monday Design Wall is getting empty!

These receiving blankets are always fun to make and "cute as a bug" when finished.
These each open up to be 41"by 41" square.

I had time to play with the decorative stitches on my sewing machine and
like this extra accent around the perimeter of the blankets.

Wondering if you have a favorite "go to" baby shower gift that's quick and easy?
Today will find me FMQ a baby panel and playing with a farm themed jelly roll.
More baby finishes to come...

Simple Baby Quilt

Sometimes simple is nice.
While cleaning and sorting through my fabric I came across some layer cakes I bought atleast a year ago. I just liked the fabric. (I know, who does that!?!?) So I decided to get them sewn up. Today I'll highlight this adorable Riley Blake Dress-Up Days Layer Cake:
This measures 47"x47".
I'm glad I didn't make this quilt harder than it needed to be. I just sewed the blocks together, quilted it together with this soft purple flannel on the back and added some cute orange polka-dot binding. (The binding isn't sewn down. I like to hand sew my binding and so am saving this stitching for Fall when my productivity in the studio drops and the weather is cooler.) But don't ya just love how  flannel seems to "puff" and really accentuate the quilting here

This was my first time using this Lazy Dazy Pantograph and I really like it. Also, for the first time, I used a different colored thread on the front and back. I used a variegated lavender thread on the front and a dark purple thread on the back...it all came out great! (Whew!)

Makes me smile to think of the Sweet Dreams that are in store for a special one-year
old little girl I have in mind for this quilty hug.

This week: Baby Projects

Hey Hello! First, click over to here if you are thinking about joining our challenge.
Click the picture to read more!

Next, the lull of summer has hit, which means more time for me to spend in my sewing studio.
Here's what's on my design wall this week:
Yep, summer is a good time for me to restock my "baby gift" drawer.
( I got three out of four done...not bad!)
It's not often we get a break from the routines of life.
Yet, this next three weeks finds me with such luxury and I plan to take full advantage of it.
I hope ya stop by often and perhaps find a little inspiration here too.
