This week's theme is: TABLECLOTHES
Two years ago I made this sunflower, pinwheel tablecloth to add a little pop to our summer dining. I used no batting and simply quilted the top and back. (Click HERE to see the original post.)
Very nice. I have not made any tablecloths that are quilted, but have done lots of quilted table toppers and runners. They always put a pop of color on the table.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this. I've been thinking about making us a tablecloth and the batting issue was one of my concerns. I was also concerned about how seems might make glasses more likely to tip over. Yours is so cheerful, I think I need to make one and quit worrying so much.
ReplyDeleteI have a huge stash of vintage tablecloths. My linked post shows just one of them. (I have a tag for "vintage fabric" so you can see the other posts.) I have never made a quilted tablecloth because they get washed. However, I make placemats (and I need to make some new ones).
ReplyDeleteNever made a tablecloth. I have used a pretty fabric just over the table (with plastic runner on top). This will be fun to see what is posted.
ReplyDeleteI have done lots of runners and table toppers, and sometimes a serged edge tablecloth. The closest thing to a quilted table cloth is a large pad I made from orphan blocks for the dining room table. I mentioned it on a post, but I haven't done a post on how I made it.
ReplyDeleteThe post I linked to has a couple of table toppers, including one that completely covers our main table. It doesn't drape over the edge like a table cloth, but neither does it leave any wood showing. I've thought about making a table cloth for our little round outdoor table, but it's always so windy out there that it would have to be clipped to the table!
ReplyDeleteI've only made one quilt like yours, where there is no batting. It's actually in the same linked post! It's a summer quilt for our bed and it works great. I think it's time to do that again for a table :)
Very interesting! I have made many table toppers but no table cloths. Why not???
ReplyDeletehave not made any table cloths in quilting just hardanger but did make a christmas runner but cannot find it on my blog to add
ReplyDeleteI have not ever made a tablecloth but I do know someone who is. I'll pass on the link..
ReplyDeleteI've not made a tablecloth as yet. My Guy has been asking for a table runner, he thinks the dinning room tablecloth of navy blue is just too blah.
ReplyDeleteI use to make tableclothes. But it was before my blogging days and before I took photos. I like yours.
