Thanks...Gingham Dog finds a home!

So here he will live cozy and safe from direct light in my very favorite book shelf.
I truly loved the idea of preserving this little piece in it's "authentic" stage. (BTW...I also love that the needle is still threaded and in place.  I know I already emailed some of you about this, but seriously, I STILL thread my needle at the end of the night so it's ready for my next sewing session.)
I know in this modern time of  kindles, and I-pads, books are becoming obsolete but  I still love the smell and feel of an old book.
Most of these books were collected during my years of teaching and raising a family. So lucky me, not only do I get to pass by my Oh Happy Day! quilt every morning, I'm now reminded of my ten year old self. (LOL!)
It all just makes me smile!
Thanks so much  for your input ...it's appreciated!

  1. I love your bookshelf! It looks so inviting. I also like real books so much more than e-books.
The smell of old books always reminds me of the little library in my hometown where I spent many happy childhood hours. Over the years I bought many of my old favorite books. (mostly Enid Blyton and pony stories) :-)
Your dog looks right at home there.

  2. Don't know if it was just the distortion from the camera, but the upper shelves looked like they are bowing at the ends & the bottom shelves looked like they were bowing in the middle. Either way I loved it all. Victoria

  7. I rarely read on a device as I much prefer to hold books and feel the paper as I turn the page. If I am traveling by plane, I will load a book on to my iPad but not otherwise. I also love old books and have started a bit of a collection; my favorite being a very early edition of A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, which was a favorite when I was growing up. Also love old cookbooks - they are so funny.

  8. This is delightful! I have some very old books from my Gr-grans house, my readers, my kids' favorite gems (from little to adult), and a few for my grands.

  9. I love looking at other people's bookshelves! Even when they are standing in front modeling something they've made, I still want to read the book titles behind them. It's even better if I spot books I have read, or once owned.

  10. I must have missed this when you originally posted it so I'm so glad you shared this again through the Tuesday Archives! Clicking back to see the post on the stitchery, I thought it was so cool (and so true of quilting) to find a connection to your past and present work! Although I do love the portability of Kindle, a wall of books warms my heart too.
