June OMG: Bee Happy Progress

I set out to continue to be intentional about using projects in my stash this year, so I tackled my  Lori Holt's Bee Happy! applique blocks this month as my June OMG. I wanted to make some obvious progress in getting more of these blocks done.
I went from this:
...to this: (Obvious progress right!)
I think I did good! I will continue to work on this one in-between other projects with the motivation to have it done and quilted by the end of my summer break. I also crossed an eye-spy quilt off my list this month and got another quilt's binding done. I appreciate Patty's OMG as it rejuvenated this project which provides the perfect summer sewing for me .

Also...LOTS going on here at the ol' blog.

Tuesday Archives #200: A Give-Away!

Hello! Hello! and Happy Tuesday Archives!
The linky party that let's you rejuvinate OLD blogging posts.
Val's Quilting Studio
A little over four years ago, this linky party started.
When I click back and review our first linky parties, I'm amazed at the variety of topics we have covered. You can check out all our past linky topics right HERE in our Tuesday Archives Directory.

I'm also reflective on how blogging and participation has changed over the years. Participation in our linky party has decreased immensely, mostly from what I have observed to be a parrallel decrease in people who have chosen to continue blogging. But ya know what, I love the opportunity to rejuvinate and visits our old blogging posts. I enjoy the community the few of us continue to maintain with eachother. So let's keep this linky going!
Mark your calendars!
This week we celebrate our 200th linky party with three opportunities to win
a $25.00 Gift Certificate to Fat Quarter Club.
1. Share our Tuesday Archives Button on your blog if you haven't already
and give the ol' linky a "shout out" on your blog and invite your readers to join us.
Comment to let me know you've done so.
Val's Quilting Studio

2. Share YOUR blog's home page in today's linky party for a 2nd entry.
Let today's linky gather our blogging community of friends and quilters.
If ya meet someone new, think about "following" their blog.

Another Eye Spy Finish!

Hello! Hello! Wow! I'm so excited to start the week with a quick finish.
I was inspired while quilting an eye spy quilt for Nancy who blogs at Pug Mom quilts.
She used the four inch eye spy blocks from our last swap and sewed them into a 4-block.
She then alternated these blocks with a 7 1/2 square eye spy block.
I really liked this alternating pattern and set out to do the same!
(Don't ya love those big chocolate chip cookies in the upper right hand corner.)
After reading all your comments from my previous post, I decided to make this a lap quilt measuring 58"x71" knowing the family of three boys it is intended for will enjoy using it often as they watch TV,  picnic and enjoy their various camping trips. It's headed to the quilting frame this week and will be finished with a fun "boy" pantograph soon. Thank you once again to everyone that participated in our  Eye Spy Swap this year. I'm only waiting for a few more packages before I can sorting them.

Mark you calendars:
Tomorrow's Tuesday Archives highlights a give-away to celebrate our 200th linky party!

Remember to stop by to participate. I hope your week is off to great start as well.

Vintage Sewing Box

I bought this Vintage Sewing Box with the goal to have all my hand sewing together.
I wanted something that would also be portable for travel and stitching on the patio.
I found it on Ebay in good condition, pre-owned. It's very solid and well built.
It measures 16 1/2"x 8 1/4"wide and is 10" high.

I love how it folds out into multiple compartments.
I plan to spend this afternoon going through and organizing my variety of hand stitching projects into this fun little sewing box. I feel like a kid in a candy store just being able to ""play with all my fabrics and threads today. I'll be sure to share it all packed and ready to go next Sunday for our Sunday Stitching highlights. I'm linking up with everyone else at Kathy's Quilts.

Summer Discovery Camp!

My summer continues to leave me with little time to sew. Last week I had my annual "Grammy Camp" (post to come) and this and next week find me teaching an eight day Discovery Camp at our local Middle School. My camp: Community Photojournalism. We're having a great time.
"Campers" are learning the attributes of taking a good photo and use them to write blog posts to share their ideas. Each student picked a place within walking distance of our school to highlight.

It's been fun to watch them take pictures beyond the world of "selfies" and
begin to see themselves and the world through the eye of a "photojournalist".
Unfortunately, due to our school's internet server, we were unable to use any blogging host outside of  the "Google Classroom", thus the kids can only share their blogs with eachother. But they are enjoying this new experience of combining photos with writing and are truly "happy campers."
Take note, next Tuesday we'll be celebrating our 200th Tuesday Archives Linky with a
$25.00 gift certificate from Fat Quarter Shop.

I'm hoping to get some sewing in this upcoming Sunday. Until then, I can be found in the classroom and Friday and Saturday on the golf course as hubby and I are off for another fun weekend away.

This week's theme is: TABLERUNNERS

Three years ago I made my mom this table-runner.
The little wool flowers were fun to stitch and it was quick to put together once I had them finished.
Now that I think about it, I really need to make myself a table-runner.
Happy Tuesday. I'm looking forward to seeing what ya have to share this week.

This week's theme is: QUILT CARE

Happy Tuesday everyone!
Happy Tuesday everyone. Soooo, I don't pre-wash my fabric. I have never had a problem with uneven fabric shrinkage or colors running. I do however, always use Shout Color Catchers with my first washes. The more the contrast in colors, like this red and black with white quilt pictured above, the more sheets I use. I'll use anywhere from 2-4 sheets depending on the quilt size and quilt colors.

SWAP IS CLOSED.
