Classroom Animal Quilt Top Sewn

Of course I was not without the company of Jackson as I played around taking pictures of my Classroom Animal Quilt flimsy. In-between throws of the tennis ball, the wind and efforts made trying to beat the incoming rain, I finally got it hung.

He paused long enough in his game of ball to be included in the picture.

It measures 50 inches square and will be the perfect classroom cuddle quilt. My goal is to get this quilted and binding on, for another Friday finish next week. I can't wait for the kids to see it! I'm going to have to set a timer to ensure they all get their "fair" amount of time using it during our May Marathon of Reading.
With smiles,
Val:)

  5. Val I love the bright happy colors of each block and the aqua sashing fabric too. The kiddos made some darling blocks. It would be a great idea to take your photograph of this quilt and print some postcards of it to give to each child so they can proudly show their families and point out their quilt block, plus have a nice little memory of it, since they cannot each own the quilt.

    1. Quilting plans: thinking of patterns in the borders...like wishbones and swirls. Then accents of the student blocks...like highlighting with green grass and accents of the animals, maybe quilting each of their names in the indiv. block. When I'm quilting freestyle like this my ideas usually change as I start quilting! LOL!! I am looking forward to having fun with the quilting though...:)

  12. Oh it looks wonderful! The kids are just going to love it. You have a nice small class with only 16 . Marathon reading, nothing I like better than children's literature! Please post some of your favorites!
You could also take a picture of each child with the quilt or a class picture and turn it into a magnet. A fun end of the year teacher gift.
