Happy Fourth of July!

A quiet day for us...hubby has to work and I'll start the day with some yard work. We'll throw some hamburgers on the grill later...but will probably be asleep by the time fireworks begin at 10:15 pm!!

But a look back to when the girls where younger found us busy with the festivities of the holiday. Our oldest ALWAYS was the most spirited! She wore her red, white and blue proudly and made the BEST jello cake topped with blueberries, strawberries and
 mini marshmellows!

Jello Cake Recipe:

Directions

  1. Prepare and bake cake in 13x9-inch baking pan as directed on package. Remove from oven. Cool cake in pan 15 minutes. Pierce cake with large fork at 1/2-inch intervals.
  2. Meanwhile, stir boiling water into dry gelatin mix in small bowl at least 2 minutes until completely dissolved. Stir in cold water; carefully pour over cake. Refrigerate 3 hours.
  3. Frost with whipped topping. Decorate.  Refrigerate at least 1 hour or until ready to serve. Cut into 16 slices. Store leftover cake in the refrigerator.

Since our girls grew up in Arizona, most their summer was spent  wearing bathing suits
and oversized t-shirts as cover ups. With alittle bit of  Tulip Paint,

they always had fun creating "star-spangled" t-shirts for our afternoon BBQ.

So whether your day is busy with festivities, or spent quietly at home: Happy Fourth!
WIth smiles!
