Sunday Organizing: Perle Cotton

Just back from the mountains and sometimes three days away is just what the doctor ordered. My class was so much fun! Aside from my embroidery box to hold perle cotton, one lady was clever to use a matchbox car case!! (YES! From the toy department!) I love that it held three times as much "stuff" and that is was a flip box. Here it is:

Truth be told, most ladies kept all their supplies in gallon size ziploc bags!
Hmmmmm....maybe I'm the one with a little OCD going on here. HAHAHA!
Need to unpack, get the lawn mowed, and life ready for back to school tomorrow. I'll  post samples of the wool work I did this weekend soon!
With smiles,
Val:)

  1. Hi Val I was so pleased to hear you had a nice refreshing weekend :-) Your pearl cottons look appropriately organized, zip lock bags sounds awful LOL:-)

  2. Both storage solutions you showed seem like perfect ideas. Ziplock bags sound good for travel, or to keep threads for a particular project separate from the rest, but I can't imagine using them for general at-home storage.

  3. Yep! I so agree with you both. When I travel I actually use a little mesh bag and pack all my project things in there...easy...but every day would be hard for me. (As you're probably beginning to notice...I organize by color...it's pretty and easy to find things.)

  4. Nice ways to organize. One tip I've found comes in handy - organizing storage is usually cheaper in the sporting goods section (tackle boxes, anyone?) than it is in the craft store! And the selection is usually broader, too....

  6. I agree with Sarah, although I haven't necessarily found it much cheaper, I have repurposed a couple of tool and tackle boxes to store my my sewing stuff in.

  8. There just something about getting organized. Your collection of pearl cotton looks so pretty! It is nice to have handwork available. I did take my Raggedies to the DMV today since I knew there would be a long long line! Your embroidered posies are so sweet and will look quite lovely as a wall hanging!

  12. Thanks for sharing this one Val! I recently purchased a stock of Perle and hadn't thought yet about where I was going to put them (they're being used so just hang out on the cutting table right now). Ironically, I have a very small one of these containers that I was storing embroidery floss in but *smacking my head* of course, why not get a big one for the Perle spools!! Will be looking forward to the next Joann's sale/coupon!
