Scrap Play!

I've continued to enjoy Kate's 15 Minute to Sew Challenge and even finished my Jan. OMG Snowman Jelly Roll into a flimsy. Here's just a peek as I'm hoping to get my long-arm back from some well needed maintenance and actually have it finished by month's end.

I also started a CREATIVE project that I've had in the back of my head:
I've never done strip piecing.
I've been wanting to use text prints against bold, print  for e v e r.
With that said, this makes for the perfect 15 minutes of sewing after a long day at work.
It's going to be fun to watch this project evolve, as right now I have no plan accept to continue having fun creating these scrappy flowers that seem to be quickly blooming from my scrap basket.
Quilting is more fun than Housework

  1. Love your applique. Sewing daily is a big help.

  2. Cute flowers! I like the way you count your sewing time, I may have a try later ;)

  3. That is a gorgeous garden that you are "planting".

  4. Love the warm tone of the JR quilt. Super idea with the scrappy stip flowers and is going to be wonderful on the script backgrounds. A nice 15 minute project to brighten up the winter months.

  5. I love what you have planned for that scrappy tulip block. Looking forward to seeing your progress on Oh Scrap!

  6. I have been thinking about trying the 15 minutes every day goal. I think probably one of the reasons I don't get as much done as I might is because I like to sew in long blocks of time and if I know I don't have that available then I don't sew at all. I need to change my mindset and try some short bursts of time more often.

  7. Pretty neutrals in that strip quilt! Hope you're keeping warm :)

  8. Good job with your daily sewing! I tend to binge sew myself--whatever works, right?

  9. The strip quilt neutrals are lovely! Nice use of them. I really like what you're doing with the appliqué on text prints. Did you design your own flower template?

  10. Ah, you're getting ready for spring! I like the way you think :)

  11. How interesting, those bold colors against the word fabric. Can't wait to see what you have in mind.

  12. That project really looks fun. I love blues and browns together.

  13. Oooh, I like those flowers! Very bright and fun to play with when it's cold and grey outside. Congrats on finding time to stitch this week and thanks for linking up this week.

  14. The colors of the jelly roll quilt are lovely. I've told others to make time each day to sew, but need to start following my own advice. I'm going to read about Growing Gills. It sounds like it may be creatively helpful. I have so many ideas for designs in my head, too, and don't accomplish many at all.

  15. I love your scrappy strip-pieced flowers and your text background! I love those fabrics, too, and quilts made with them remind me of scrap books. I'm about to start a new applique BOM with bold prints (Kaffe Fasssett etc.) and I'm trying to come up with something DIFFERENT for my background fabric. No fabric has screamed ME ME ME yet so I'm still looking!

  16. You are doing very well with your 15 minutes / day sewing time. The bright fabrics on the text background look nice.

I have to admit, your comments make me smile! Thanks for sharing and for letting me know you stopped by. I Hope your day is awesome!
